Abstract :
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk started the domestic travels when he was the president of the GNAT and continued these travels when he became the President of the Republic. He visited Mersin nine times, one before and eight after the liberation within the scope of these travels. In these travels, the works of introducing the fundamental qualities and values of the republic, ensuring the adoption of them, land seeking in the south for the farm, establishment and development of the agricultural farms and developping Turkish through related institutions due to the fact that there was a substantial number of Arabic speaking people were emphasized in the agenda of Ataturk. In addition to these, in the examination reports which were prepared within the scope of 1930-31 travels which covered Mersin after the visit of the city, financial matters (taxes), customs, the problems of administration and justice, education, health, economy, maritime trade, harbour, credit problems, cooperatives and the problems of people were existing
