Abstract :
It is known that the states that have realized great revolutions establish institutions with the aim of presenting the characteristics and the ideology of the revolutions and making them known to both domestically and internationally. Having emerged from the desire to utilize the power of the history, such institutions have operated to fulfil the mission that the history has put on their shoulders within the process of founding a nation-state. With similar aims, considering that Turkish nation also needs such an institution to actualize these needs, the Institute of Turkish Revolution History (TITE) was founded in 1942. In this study, the need for this Institute to be founded in the Republic of Turkey, the foundation process and the discussions hold in The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, its duties and authorities along with the functions expected from the institution with respect to its working principles and the consequent targeted benefits have been examined in a scientific frame work with the analysis of the relevant archives, minute books, reflections of the process in the press and other resources.
