AN EVALUATION ON OSMANIYE UNDER THE FRENCH OCCUPATION AND RAHIME HATUN

Osmaniye, which was located in the southern front of the Turkish National Struggle has quite an important place geostrategically. Because the region was on the railway route combining the east to the west, the north to the south, it carried great importance on the wars of independence in Antep, Adana, Maraş and Hatay. The main problematic of this article was the evaluation of Osmaniye’s forgotten paramilitary forces and fight against the French forces along with the Armenian groups. The main focus of the article was selected as the evaluation of how the French forces grasped the region, and how the occupations were tried to be facilitated by way of divide and rule policy. In the article, especially Rahime Hatun’s biography and services were remembered whose helpful services to the National Struggle were commemorated by any of the authors on the topic. The main target of the research was the utilization of archival documents which were used partially, private archives, legislation records, and the memoirs in those year’s press and contribution to the literature’s gaps.
