Abstract :
In devoloping and developed countries the prevalence of childhood and adolescent obesity appears to be increasing worldwide and adults obesity has its origining childhood that is been important it. The aim of this study were to assess the prevalence of adolescent overweight and obesity in Çubuk. A cross-sectional study was carried out on 166 of 180 students between 11- to 13-year-old-children ( 91 male and 75 female) from junior high school. According to anthropometric protocols, weight, height, triceps and subscapular skinfold thickness were taken. Also children’s eating behaviour and sedantary conditions were collected. The body mass index (BMI) was calculated and taken t test (student test), ANAVO and corelation analysis via SPSS 17.0 version. This study results show that the prevalence of owerweight and obesity has been found 24.2 % and 7.7 % among male and 26.7 % and 4.0 % among female, respectively. In summary, obese children are at an increased risk of developing various health problems, and are also more likely to become obese adults. There is now good evidence to show that adult obesity is associated with a wide range of health problems.
