An Anthropological Approach to Structuralism: Levi-Strauss and Structuralism

The most important founder of structuralism, which is terminologically originated from the concept of structure and expresses itself as a whole composed with coming together of the parts, is Levi-Straus.As a common denominator, structuralism is not just limited to anthropology and it becomes a notion which reflects itself in almost each field of study from philosophy, literature to mathematics. Except for the other scholars, Levi-Strauss applies structuralism to anthropology and he employs the terms of linguistics and psycholonalysis. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyse structuralism and Levi-Strauss’s structuralist aproach to anthropology.
