Abstract :
The growing area of the each plant was calculated using Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi polygons to analyse the seed distribution uniformity after seeding. Wheat, soybean and maize were sown for field trials. Seed distribution uniformity in the horizontal plane was analysed by seed spacing and growing area criteria. The results of the both criteria were compared. The results of the research showed that seed spacing and growing area evaluation criteria gave similar results for soybean and maize because of the larger row spacing of these seeds. Analysing the seed distribution in the horizontal plane using only seed spacing criterion was insufficient for wheat. Because row spacing of wheat was narrower and growing area of wheat plants was affected by the lateral scatters of the seeds as much as seed spacing. The shape of growing area of wheat seeds was much more different than the shape of ideal growing area when the forward speed of the seeder was increased from 0.7 to 1.5 m s^-1 because of increased displacement of seeds from the intended position.
