Abstract :
Due to the high trend of market demand in animation products and outsourced animation services, there is a considerable potential for Malaysian animation providers and producers to grow. With the backing from the government, Malaysia is planning to become one of the better players in the digital content industry. However there is a fundamental concern of limited creative talent pool in the country. The gap between the training institutions and the required needs for the industry will be seen as a hindrance to the development of the industry. This preliminary study takes a macro look at the development of human resource for the animation sector in the public institution of higher learning. Training programmes on animation and creative contents are surveyed to explain their nature such as scope, contents and levels. This study finds that there is a great need to expand and improve the available programmes to train local talents and meet the needs of the animation industry
