Are changes needed in surgical training

I read the valuable article entitled Are changesneeded in surgical training? by Dr. Khair y,I and I doagree with the aurhor that major changes in the currentsystem of training are needed to improve the qualityof graduates. This statement is mostly applicable toprograms where surgery comprises a significant bulk ofthe program. Ifwe want to improve the system we haveto work on a proper basis in the form of identifyinggoals of that program, terminal objectives, instructionaland evaluation strategies, plus a clear step wise, timeoriented implementation plan. The system is supposedto be in accordance with local priorities of the country,taking into con sideration available resources .
