Abstract :
Skeletal Class III malocclusion can be a result of excessive mandibular growth and/or underdevelopment of the maxilla. In the early growth period skeletal Class III malocclusions can be treated by orthodontic and orthopedic appliances, however, in the adult period orthognathic surgery is essential particulaly to correct severe skeletal discrepancies. The main complaint of our patient having skeletal Class III malocclusion presented here was her unfavorable facial esthetics and maxillary retrusion. Treatment plan involved to correct skeletal Class III malocclusion, to obtain a normal overbite and overjet relationship, to autotransplant the impacted maxillary canine, to achieve a stable occlusal relationship, and to improve profile and facial esthetics. After orthodontic levelling, aligning and decompensation of upper and lower dental arches, a 5mm maxillary advancement was achieved with orthognathic surgery utilizing a LeFort I osteotomy. Autotransplantation of the maxillary canine tooth was implemented and prosthetic treatment was used for the esthetic restoration of canine and premolar teeth.
