Abstract :
Talent, character, trends and factors such as one s self to recognize the important factors that affect professional success. The aim of this study was to evaluate the notions of students (S) of Faculty of Dentistry of Süleyman Demirel University on factors on vocational preference, expectations in the educational process and necessity of education of doctorate/speciality. 182 volunteer students were informed about the study. Responses were assessed as percentages. Students (totally 105-females, 77-males) were separated as Class I (37S), Class II (47S), Class III (43S), Class IV (28S) and Class V (27S). The 53,3% percentile of participants have answered the reason of prefering of dentistry that “they have also wanted to be a doctor or dentist, but they won the faculty of dentistry caused by ordering of points in university entrance exam”. It was observed that, many of them (%65,4) have prefered dentistry after medicine or the other jobs. Period of education of dentistry was found suitable as a 35% percentile. Other students were indicated that the time may be extended (14,8%) or shortened (41%). Education of doctorate/speciality after graduate education was found necessary by a large majority (80,2%). Eventually, efficient factors on vocational preference were observed as “earned points by students” and “request of families”. Different views were found about educational time. Necessity of education of doctorate/speciality was accepted by majority.
