Abstract :
Besides aesthetic and functional benefits to the patient; orthodontic treatment may cause demineralised, opaque white spot lesions around bands and brackets. This situation is an unwanted complication. A proper diagnosis must be made in order to provide good treatment plan for white spot lesions(WSL). A product of DMG called ‘Icon’ is a new minimally invasive technique for treating WSLs by caries infiltration. Having a refractive index of 1.46, Icon light cure resin can mask the white opaque appearance of the WSL by infiltrating into the affected enamel. This case report describes a microinvasive technique used to treat smooth surface white spot lesions by infiltration of initial enamel caries lesion with lowviscosity light curing resin called infiltrant, Icon.
