Abstract :
This research has been carried out to demonstrate the reasons why the current students and graduated students who were registered in Çankaya Public Education Center continue education in Open High School, purposes of finishing open high school and problems they face in the education process. To collect data, quallitative research techniques were used. 34 students and 8 graduated students form Çankaya Public Education Centre, were interviewed by using Semi structured interview forms. Data were analyzed using content analysis. It appears to have emerged that the reason why students continued to study in Open High School are mostly related to economic problems personal problems and discrimination. The aims for completing their education through Open High School can be categorised as vocational aims, academic aims and personal aims. It has been pointed out that the students and graduated students have had some difficulties during the learning process. The common problems they experinced were; not having time because of responsibilities related to their family and their work; having difficulties about studying lessons on their own and not having a face to face instruction; and not being used to the exam and test system of Open High School.
