Abstract :
The field works of that project was performed at 2013 growing season in Konya-Çumra Agro – Production High School. Stine variety of sugar beet was used in research. In that regard, the effect of deficit nitrogen applications by deficit drip irrigation on nitrogen use and sugar yield was evaluated. In research, the findings obtained from full irrigation (FI) and full nitrogen (FN) applications as well as two conventional deficit irrigations of the 75 % and 50 % of the FI (CDI75 and CDI50) and two deficit nitrogen levels 75 % (DN75) and 50 % (DN50) of FN were analyzed. When about 35-40 % of the available water capacity within the root zone depth was consumed, subjects’irrigations were started and all the sub-sequent irrigations were performed in accordance with this principle. One fourth nitrogen requirement of plants was applied to the seed bed, and remaining nitro-gen amounts were applied in four equal parts by fertigation technique in first 4 irrigation events. The results showed that although irrigation treatments had sig-nificant effect on sugar yield (P 0.01), nitrogen levels had no significant effect. Nitrogen levels had significant effect on plant nitrogen use efficiency (P 0.01). Irrigation treatments had significant effect but different nitrogen levels had no significant effect on nitrogen contents of roots (P 0.01) and leaves (P 0.01).
