  • Abstract
Drought ranks at the first among natural disasters around the world. Drought is defined as negative effects of rainfall falls below normal recorded levels signif-icantly on soil water resources. Water-holding capacity of the soil and the effi-cient use of water is of great importance in drought conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of soil texture on soil water holding capac-ity and to prepare soil water holding capacity maps depends on soil texture in Konya-Çumra plain (Alibey serie). For this purpose, soil samples were collected from 0-20 cm depth. The samples were analyzed for some soil parameters such as particle size distribution and water holding capacity using Standard routine laboratory tests. The textures of the soil samples were found to be C, CL and SCL. The soil water holding capacity ranged from 17 to 33 %.
