Abstract :
Even in production systems with the most advanced manufacturing systems, some errrors and defects may occur because of the human factor. These errors happening during the production process may lead customers to have negative ideas about the business. Poka Yoke or Mistake proofing is a simple technique that developed out of the Toyota Production system through Jidoka and Autonomation. It is normally a simple and often inexpensive device that prevents defects from being made or highlights a defect so that it is not passed to the next operation. The least effective form of quality control is that of inspection by people, people are fallible and can often fail to observe problems especially if the work is repetitive and the shift is long. Firm overcome the inefficiencies of inspection through the use of automatic devices called Poka Yoke, these seek to do three things; not accept a defect for the process, not create a defect and not allow a defect to be passed to the next process. Poka-Yoke can be designed to handle errors (control function) or to warn them (warning function). Whatever type of Poka Yoke device you use you should ensure that it is inexpensive and simple, there are often simple effective solutions that can be designed without the need to spend vast sums; if huge amounts of money are being considered then you have not thought deeply enough about the problems. Poka-Yoke differentiates between mistakes which in most cases are inevitable and defects which are mistakes that manage to get through the system and reach the customer.In order to achieve a product level which meets the customers’ demads and expectations, it is necessary for production process to manufacture without any faults. Poka-Yoke, developed by Shingo,contains a number of applications to make sure each product goes out of the production system without any faults. In this case, increasing customer satisfaction and preventing customer complaints are achieved starting from the manufacturing process. In this study, as a production-oriented application, Poka-Yoke system which aims at reducing errors and defects to achieve customer satisfaction will be analyzed in detail with case studies. In case, Poka-Yoke systems are examined a brake lining assembly and expiration date on bottles of drinking water for the right to write.
