Even if they may seem amusing and unrealistic, tales in fact contains important messages about society s value judgments. Besides cultural exchange, they also contributes to the education of the society. They teach what’s wrong and what’s rigth. “Śukasaptati” has an important role in Indian literature. Also known as “Seventy Tales of the Parrot”, the book contains seventy stories. The main themes of the stories are women. The women in stories are unfaithful, cunning and trickster. Men are always weak against women. In the work, each one of the seventy stories are very interesting. Śukasaptati begins with an introduction story called Frame Story. In the Frame Story, general information is given as an entry to the other stories; the main character of the story, the Parrot and Prabhavati are introduced. Prabhavati, loves her husband so much, takes advantage of him being far away, wants to go out at night to meet her lover. Parrot distracts her by telling stories and stops her from leaving the house. The stories that the Parrot told are all about the women’s unfaithfulness and cunning. In Śukasaptati, it may seem that women are given advice, but in fact it is the men who need to learn lessons. The purpose of this story is to warn clean and pure Aryan men against women.
