The Right to Housing and An Outlook on Housing Sector The Case of Konya During the 2013-2016

Housing need is a fact that must be fulfilled since existence of humankind. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations and the other contracts about this declaration also include right to housing and in other saying right to shelter. In Turkey,in the constitutions of 1961 and 1982 use expressions which interest in these rights. Although it is recognized in national and international legislation, the right to housing which is regarded as one of the basic vital rights, is a controversial issue in the sense of daily life. In this study; after the explanation of what is meant by the concept of the right to housing, current statistical datas will be analyzed about the housing sector of Turkey. Finally, process of house acquiring in Konya will be research by using face to face interviews with the represents of housing and estate sector in Karatay, Meram and Selçuklu,the central districts of Konya. The main aim of this study is to put forward to what extent the sector satisfies the housing needs of the people living in the area of research.
