Na Hye Seok’s Life and The World of Literature

We can see the Age of Enlightenment (1876-1910) as the period in which the start of the innovations in all areas by the aim of Korea’s entering modernization process with the Kabo reform (1894-1896). When this period is considered from the point of view of women, it is possible to see the awakening of women and the opposition to this old idea in the Korean society where Confucian principles and opinions prevail. The women of the Enlightenment period were sent for education with government support to Japan which had previously accepted western civilization. During this period there were developments in the creation of new opportunities for women in education and joining the society. Educated women wanted to use their knowledge in this period when women’s education was at the forefront. The first example of this is Na Hye Seok, the subject of studying. As well as being the first female writer, and for the first time, a woman s eye is a personality that has taken its place in the history of Korean literature at the point of the different process from the writers of the period of the woman problem. Na Hye Seok is also known as Korea s first female painter who studied painting at the University of Fine Arts in Tokyo. Although Na Hye Seok, who has ideas beyond the process and processes it in her writings, has been excluded by the society, the messages she had given about women in today s Korean society are invested again in the table. In this work, the life of Na Hye Seok, the first female painter of Korea, the first female rights advocate, the first female writer, and a few works have been touched on the world of literature and works. In addition, when Na Hye Seok s life was mentioned, it was possible to take a general look at the social structure of Korea at that time.
