Abstract :
History has witnessed everything that has happened since the time when human beings were on earth. Even though the events in the time system expressed themselves in different ways, their first addressee was human beings. Because what happened was either due to its primary effect or the first degree affected by itself. No matter how they have taken place, they have been guided by human beings in shaping the quality of life.In general, wars or the destruction of the environment by human beings is considered to be the harm of the first degree person itself, namely the disaster. Natural events (floods, droughts, earthquakes, thunderstorms, falling to earth) are called natural disasters. Throughout history, both events may have occurred tens or thousands of times, and some of them have been able to find a place in the chronicles of ancient civilizations after the invention of writing. To prevent the damages of these disasters or natural disasters, not only during flood of Nuh with the Torah also The Hittite king II. Murşili appears in the prayer of God, and after the rise of Islam, we come accross it while the praying of rain. It should not be wrong to think or say that these disasters have a sign in the history of every nation, every religion and every culture.Until the mid-XIIIth century, many disasters or natural disasters were seen in the Turkish-Islamic world. The effects of these disasters have sometimes been caused by mankind with slight abrasions or damages and sometimes caused great destruction.Human damage to the environment as a tactic of unconsciousness or war in the Middle Ages, it showed itself in the exhaustion of the quality of life of innocent people in later times. No matter whether it is a disaster or a natural disaster, as long as the measures are not taken, it certanly shows itself somehow in society. One of the shapes it shows is famine. Famine is usually caused by the lack of foodstuffs and it may occur in result of two disasters.From the beginning of islam to the mid-13th century, it is seen in the light of the sources of many famine incidents as a result of disasters and natural disasters. In this study, we will try to find answers to the questions about the famine in the Turkish-Islamic world by the mid- 13th century, the reasons why famine emerged, what happened after the famine and the social problems of the famine.
