Abstract :
Introduction: In this experiment, the effect of object category was assessed using
behavioral reaction time and event related potentials, while subject performed
categorization task with words referring to objects from natural (e.g. animal) and
artefactual (e.g. tool) categories. Results revealed significantly greater RTs and more
negative N400 component for tool words rather than animals. Different spatial
distribution of N400 component for tool and animal categories as well as results of
behavioral data is consistent with categorization of knowledge.
