Abstract :
The main material of this study was the data obtained by surveying 80 livestock producers among the intensive animal husbandry enterprises located in the central villages of Kars. Although Kars has an important potential for both livestock population and milk production, most of the enterprises do not use the modern technologies, but they commonly use traditional and extensive production methods. According to survey results, 32.9 % of the enterprises benefit from milk production promotions, 11.2 % of them prefer artificial insemination, 16.3 % of them use milking machine and 36.3 % of them apply teat cleansing during the milking processes. Furthermore, this study indicates that, the producers do not have enough information about the somatic cell numbers, total bacterial numbers, milk hygiene and mastitis. According to the findings, we may therefore suggest that for the milk producers in Kars province, the agricultural journals and practical trainings are not adequate.
