Abstract :
In the last decade, many researchers have focused on feed additives as an alternative to antibiotics, hormones and hormon-like supplements, since the usage of those feed additives have been banned in animal feeding. Recently, the usage of feed additives as a digestive system regulatory agent, metabolism modifier and physiological balance protective come into prominence in ruminants. Feed additives regulating digestive system support the microbiologic development and prevent the colonization of pathological microorganisms or increase the digestion degree of feeds. Metabolism- altering feed additives affect the metabolism directly or indirectly, while the physiological protective feed additives prevent the deleterious effects in rumen fermentation. In this study, the effect of feed additives on health and yield performance was reviewed.
