Abstract :
The cutaneous mucinosis is a group of disorders having abnormal accumulation of jelly-like mucin in the skin. A 5 year old, shar-pei breed dog referred to Veterinary Teaching Hospital with the complaints of recurrent dermatologic conditions (including asymptomatic numerous bullae and erythema on the skin). Peripheral blood smear and aspiration smear of bullous material stained with Diff-Quick revealed severe mastocytosis. Idiopathic mucinosis was confirmed with biopsies taken from the affected skin. Methylprednisolone acetate and cephalexin were initiated. Any deterioration occurred during 2 year follow-up.
