Abstract :
Malakan Horse is a native horse breed found heavily in the Eastern Anatolia Region and known to be brought by Malakans migrated to this region from Ukraine. This case presentation was aimed to define coincidental cryptorchidism in a Malakan horse. The case material used was a 7 years old Malakan horse weighing 325 kg. In the first inspection, only the left testicle was found in the scrotum. The right testicle was located intraabdominally. The length and weight of the right testicle were 4.5 and 3 cm, while the length and weight of the left testicle were 12 and 6.5 cm, respectively. In histopathological investigation of the cryptorchidic testicle, thickening of interstitium by loose connective tissue sheets containing empty blood vessels and mostly necrotic Leydig cells were noted. Consequently, right abdominal cryptorchidism was defined in a Malakan horse about which very little literature data are present.
