Abstract
The aim of this study was to define macroscopic and histopathological findings and to reveal the prevalence of the parasitic diseases observed in the lungs of cattle slaughtered in Ordu and Erzurum. For this purpose, macroscopic and microscopic examinations of the lungs in a total of 713 cattle (444 cattle from Ordu and 269 cattle from Erzurum) were performed. Hydatidosis cysts were observed macroscopically in 90 of all organs (12.62%). However, there was no evidence of any lung nematodes parasites in the examination performed by opening the lumen of the bronchi and bronchioles. Macroscopically, hydatic cysts were observed in various sizes, wrapped around and soft in consistency. In microscopic examination, the structures of parasite were observed together with interstitial pneumonia. Consequently, the incidence of the hydatidosis in organs examined macroscopically and histopathologically was found to be 11.26% in Ordu and 14.86% in Erzurum.
