POLITICAL THINKERS AND MODERN SOVEREIGNTY

Sovereignty, as a modern concept, has arosen at the same time with the modern state. In this context, it is impossible to say that, sovereignty didn’t change up until now. There are two different periods about this subject. In the first period, sovereignty had attributed to only one person and taken time to the 1789 French Revolution. In this period, Machiavelli, Bodin, Hobbes and Rousseau and their thougths are very important. In the second period which had arosen at the same time with the French Revolution, this power has taken from one person and given all society.
