  • Abstract
One of the main problems of the international society is the group of people‟s who are forced to leave their country because of various reasons rights and freedom that they will have in the asylum state. Like the categories of individual, refugees and asylum seekers are accepted as a subject of the international law. The Geneva Convention of which Turkey is also a contracting member country is a fundamental international law source regulating the legal situation of refugees. It can be said that the Syrian citizens whose sheltering are provided in the tent cities in Turkey do not have the status of refugee or asylum seeker, but are granted “temporary protection”. In this study –with a comparison of EU law and practice- the institution of temporary protection and the situation of Syrian citizens in Turkey are analyzed.
