  • Abstract
A semicircular patch antenna is designed to provide triple band operation for the WiFi/ WiMax technology covering the bands around 2.4, 3.5 and 5 GHz. The semicircular patch is loaded by a shorting pin whose size and location are adjusted to provide three resonant modes close to the required frequencies with a linear polarized broadside radiation. Simulated results obtained by Ansoft HFSS vl4 software are presented for the reflection loss, radiation patterns and antenna gains at the dilferent operating frequencies. Specifically, the antenna configuration was realized over 4.572mm thick Ԑr = 2.94 Rogers 6002 substrate. It has a peak gain of 2.9dB with 20% size reduction comparing with one without the shorting pin. It is shown that the achieved bandwidth at the dilferent bands meet the required specifications for the WiFi and WiMax applications.
