Abstract :
The usage of cold applications has expanded, becomes widespread, and an indispensable method of treatment, especially in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Therefore, cold applications, especially in orthopedic clinics, are one of the most frequently applications encountered by nurses. However, inappropriate applications and when necessary precautions are not taken, cold applications may cause serious problems that affect the person’s health adversely. Thus, nurses have important responsibilities in the realization of the cold applications. In this article, the effects of cold applications to the organism, major cold application methods and nursing care on cold applications are discussed in order to provide basic information to the nurses about cold applications and to guide the care of the patients who have been applied cold applications
