Retrospective Review of Manuscripts Published In Journal of Hacettepe University Faculty of Nursing

Aim: In this study, aim was to investigate author and article features of manuscripts published in the journal from 1994, the first year of publication, to 2013. Material and Methods: Study was planned as retrospective and descriptive; and conducted at two phases. In first phase of the study, an archival files from published issues created. In second step, articles and article features reviewed with Data Collection Tool, which was developed based literature. Data was analyzed by using number and percent. Results: Between 1994 and 2013, 281 articles was published, and 51.2% of the articles were research article, 90% were written in Turkish, 81.3% had descriptive type. 44.5% of articles had two authors, 96.4% of the articles’ authors were female, and 83.7% of their authors were nurse academicians. Subject areas of the most of the articles were fundamentals of nursing (16.7%) and internal medicine nursing (16.7%). Conclusion: Increasing the number of case reports, pediatric nursing and public health nursing articles and articles in English, supporting clinical nurses about authorship and meeting indexing requirements for the journal mentioned as needs.
