Fuzzy control charts: An application in a textile company

In this study, fuzzy logic is used for establishing the process control charts and a relevant application is given. Plotting of the control charts is conducted in two main categories as classical control charts (u-control charts) and fuzzy control charts. In compliance with the linguistic expressions of uncertainty, fuzzy mode, fuzzy median, fuzzy midrange and Direct Fuzzy Approach (DFA) were applied when plotting fuzzy control charts. In the last part of the study, the results and the comparisons of them are presented. As a consequence of the comparisons, it is seen that the number of out of control points were higher in the u-control than the fuzzy control charts. It is also found that, partially under control and partially out of control decisions can be given as alternatives for “under control” and “out of control” decisions of u-graphics.
