Abstract :
The reaction of phthalaldehyde and ammonium acetate, DMAD, and amides 4 in the presence of Et3N at room temperature produce pyrimidine derivatives 5 in excellent yields. High atom economy and yield, mild and clean reaction condition, free catalyst, and short reaction time are some advantages of this procedure for synthesis of pyrimidines.
