Photoswitching of Intramolecular Magnetic Interaction: A Diarylethene Photochromic Spin Coupler

We have designed and synthesized l,2-bis[6-(l-oxyl-3oxide-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolin-2-yl)-2-methylbenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl]hexafluorocyclopentene which shows photoswitching of intramolecular magnetic interaction by incorporating two nitronyl nitroxide into diarylethene photochromic spin coupler.
