Author/Authors :
Nestler, Sebastian
Abstract :
This article critically addresses the impacts of neo-liberal respectively post-hegemonic forms of subjectification on the self and discusses them with the help of a detailed analysis of the movie LIMITLESS (2011) by director Neil Burger. In the context of neoliberal respectively post-hegemonic notions of power, the movie is being used as a critical method of sociological analysis which can be applied to the de-construction of certain forms of subjectification which aim at the total incorporation of the self through post-hegemonic power. In this regard post-hegemonic power is being “unmasked”. Afterwards alternative forms of subjectification which elude these limitless incorporation and defend the self as a site of critique will be discussed using the example of the Anti-Oedipus.
