Title of article :
A Class Based Aproach to Communication Studies: Communication as “Experience”
Author/Authors :
bulut, gökhan
Abstract :
This study is an attempt to provide a basis for confronting and invigorating the relatively weak relationship between the field of communication and class analysis. The problematique of the study is how “experience”, which is one of the basic concepts of class analysis, can be utilised in communication studies as a dimension of the attempt to build a relation between two fields and how a new form can be established in this relation. The concept of “collectivity” is examined as a common determining factor of both communication and experience in those lines; which is followed by a suggestion of conceptualising “communication as experience”. Building such a relationship between class analysis and the field of communication is considered as crucial for both understanding social reality in all its different aspects and enriching scientific activity on an extensive factual basis.
