Abstract :
A study was conducted in Jordan to evaluate the supplemented role of mating disruption and lure traps with spraying some insecticides in management of the codling moth (CM) Cydia pomonella (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae ) . The treatments were conducted by using the Isomate C plus dispensers (d) and the insecticides (cypermethrin, diazinone, acephate, chloropyifos and imidacloprid). The obtained data indicated that the population levels of CM in all the studied areas were high. Pheromone trap catches of males and CM fruit infestation rates were used to compare between treatments. When Isomate C plus dispensers were tested alone in 2 ha area plot with an application rate of 1000 d/ha, and the males catches decreased in pheromone traps from 15.6 to 11 moth/trap; while fruit injury was reduced from 11.1% to 8%. On the other hand, male caught and fruit injury in the control was decreased from 40.5 to 25.5 moth/trap; and 38.8% to 9.96% CM fruit injury for 2007 and 2008, respectively. Isomate C plus dispensers that were supplemented with 3-4 insecticides sprays were tested in small plot 0.5 ha area; males catches in pheromone traps were 36, 8.5, and 0 causing 4.2%, 5.8%, and 6% for 2007-2009 years , respectively with application rate 600-700 d/h. In Ash-Shoubak district where the application rate of the Isomate C plus dispensers was increased to 1500 d/h and supplemented with 5 insecticides sprays in a small plot of 0.4 ha area, the trap catch was 0 with 0.9% infestation rate, while that for the control was 76 moth causing 14.6% CM fruit injury, the control plot was 1.6 ha sprayed with 5 insecticides sprays. Conclusions are included within the discussion.
