CABARAN TEKNOLOGI DAN PERANAN KHALIFAH DALAM NOVEL RUANG PERJALANAN

Debates over human dependence on technology in Western works of fiction and novel are traced to as early as 1984 such as The Machine Stops and the Neuromancer. Reenactment issue then spread in Malay literature, especially novels. Hence, this paper proposed to show how the Malay novel can provide benefits to the conflict. The study sample used is a novel by Sasterawan Negara S. Othman Kelantan, namely Ruang Perjalanan (1989). The study reviewed the results of the Malay literary works related to the role of man as the caliph of Allah on the Islamic approach, making use of what is put forward as an idea Prophetic Kuntowijoyo. This study found that in Gagasan Profetik, S.Othman Kelantan demonstrated his consistency in lifting the characters in the novel by inserting a form of message that needs to be interpreted by the audience. This applies to the Ruang Perjalanan which is pursued using one of the three ethics in the Prophetic Idea which is the ethics of amar ma ruf. The findings show that, the author removes the state of dependence, violence, hatred among the characters and restores their existence damaged by machine man, mass society and mass culture. This study concluded that S.Othman Kelantan not only raised the issue of the caliphate of the character in the novel, but also very evident that the nature of the work and the author of the background yourself up across the Malay-Islamic roots. It was detected when he also took advantage of his position as a writer to carry out his responsibilities as the caliph of Allah.
