The electoral process in Malaysia is based on the first-past-the-post system has largely benefited the big parties in domestic politics. The 13th General Election is no exception to this system. This work utilizes the quantitative method to collect and analyze data for addressing voting behavior along with the ethnic composition of parliamentary constituencies in a multicultural context. It highlights proportional representation (PR) in an electoral system. is seen as how somewhat more transparent and fair to all political parties irrespective of their size and power. This work argues that the practice of parliamentary democracy in Malaysia can potentially be empowered through the implementation of proportional representation which priortised the allocation of seats based on votes received during an election in ensuring equality among all political parties participating in the electoral system.
