A Methodological Contribution to the Commentary About the Language and Qurʾān and Meaning - Abū Sanā al-Iṣfahānī’s Introduction

The introductions to commentary books contains rich content in terms of the Qurʾān Sciences and the methodology of commentary. In some of these introductions, the theoretical dimension of commentary is much more advanced than the works which carry the title of methodology of commentary. The introduction that Abū Sanā al-Iṣfahānī wrote it for his commentary named Anvārü’l-Haḳāʾiḳ draws attention by it’s titles and style. There are titles about the science of fiqh and kalām with language and Qurʾān and meaning and commentary, in the introduction which contains twentythree chapter. As can be seen, this introduction was written on the basis of Rāgıb al-Iṣfahānī’s work called Muqaddimatu Cāmiüt-Tafāsīr and used the schematic explanations of this book on the subject level. And Muhyiddin al-Kāfiyacī created his work at-Taysīr on Rāgıb al-Iṣfahānī’s introduction. This study introduces the missing link of a tradition that examines the commentary in philosophical dimension and analyzes the contribution of Abū Sanā al-Iṣfahānī to the methodology of commentary.
