Abstract
This paper concerns with the design and implementation of a high frequency DC-DC boost converter, with output isolation and inherent soft switching (zero voltage switching (ZVS)). The resonance between the parasitic capacitances and transformer magnetizing inductance of the primary side switches provides a convenient method to achieve a zero-voltage turn-on and turn-off of the switches, significantly reducing switching losses. The switches on all legs of the bridge are (ideally) switched with a 50 % duty cycle. The switches are phase-shifted relative to each other. The power flux can be controlled either by varying the DC voltage or controlling the switches command. The main advantages of the proposed converter are: (a) negligible switching losses , high efficiency (82% - 84%); (b) Negligible EMI; (c) High reliability compared to pulse width modulation (PWM) Converters (due to the simpler control circuitry).
