Abstract :
Land use is very important in terms of determining the relations between environment and human in Geographical researches. The changes in environmental with elevation affect the activities of human who is the most important user of earth. Afyonkarahisar province is located in a position where environmental conditions with elevation and also human activities indicate a change. Because of the differences of the opportunities belonging to each elevation zone, land use forms of human in each stage is different. The zone of 900-1300 m. is the most common in terms of land use density in Afyonkarahisar province. Settlements, farming and industry area are common between 900-1300 m. After 1300 m. the changes which affect human activities in environment started. While these changes caused the decreases in farming and industrial uses, the usage of woodland and grassland became important. Particularly, after 1400 m. woodland becomes important. This condition is related to the increasing precipitation. After 1600 m. settlements and human factor remove, natural factors determine the condition of land use. If the change of land use condition with elevation is considered in planning applications toward Afyonkarahisar province, a new perspective for plannings can come. If existing land use condition in each elevation zone is analysed in a detailed form, human can protect and use environment in the best form.
