Abstract :
The transformation of industrial sites which has already lost their function and values in urban areas stand as in the priority task of developed and developing countries. There is a need for transformation projects to enhance public benefit and improve the life quality within the framework of urban design projects. İzmit Sekapark is the most comprehensive industrial transformation project implementation in Turkey. The Project area is an old paper factory which is stuck in the city and has lost its functions. The Project is a current example of the transformation of industrial sites into a recreation area. This technical note aims to notify the academicians and experts about the findings of the postgraduate study of Sekapark. The study finds out that the transformation project is in the center of urban development and can be a good model for similar projects as well as contributes the life quality of urban residents.
