Oruçreis Neighborhood (Kocasinan-Kayseri) in Urbanization Process

Major cities in Turkey, have taken a significant amount of migration in the last 30 years. This situation has created a major problem, especially in the mid 1980s. The city of Kayseri is one of the examples of this situation. Oruçreis, is in the Kocasinan district of Kayseri, was occured with migrations. Oruçreis district has grown rapidly, especially between the years 1986-2000. This growth occurred due to illegal constructions rather than squatting. Oruçreis neighborhood have translated from rural to urban area in social, cultural andeconomic point of view. Illegal construction have relatively decreased by make nocompromises on this issue of local governments in the last decade. In this study, we have discussed the socio-economic and socio-cultural development oruçreis district in and around which differ from their own neighborhood. Oruçreis neighborhood formation, organization, social, cultural, economic development and elements of life have been studied under the rules of empirical research. All events are discussed with spatial (geographical) perspective.
