Abstract :
The current electoral system of Turkey is a d’Hondt method that kind of proportional representation system. The d hondt method is advantageous for an elector to be represented. However, it should be noted that this method has been discussed in terms of stability in various aspects. There is no doubt that ten percent country threshold of the electoral system is aimed at ensuring more stable outcomes in Turkey. Any party that does not reach the threshold is excluded from the calculation of seats. This higher threshold criticizes among the fair representation of the parties in the Parliament though simplifies the process of seat allocation and allows stability. In this sense, a simple plurality or single-member district plurality system is being discussed in terms of both stability and representation under this system does not need a threshold. Single member district plurality system awards a seat to the individual candidate who receives the most votes in a constituency. The candidate does not need to get the majority of the votes to win; if he simply has a larger number of votes than all other candidates, he wins. This electoral system also tends to encourage the growth of the relatively stable political system. Electors are a close relationship with the candidate in this system as a list type. Moreover, a threshold does not apply in this electoral system
