Abstract :
“Dawud bin Mahmud bin Muhammad” also known as “Dawud Qayseri” was invited by Orhan Gazi to the the first medrese to be established in Iznik, which was conquered by the Ottomans in 1331. Thus, he served as the first Ottoman scholar. The fact that he was the first scholar makes him and his work important in terms of History of Turkish Law. Detailed infor-mation on the background of the scholarship of him could not be reached. In addition, there is little in the researches about the identity of lawyers. The majority of his work focus his sufi identity. This information is mainly focused on the Wahdet-i Wucut philosophy that Ibn Arabi has systematized. Therefore, these studies are important in terms of illuminating the emotions and thoughts of a great scholar who was the founder of the Ottoman madrasa system.
