Abstract :
Celal Nuri is one of the most important advocates of Westernism in the last period of the Ottoman Empire. It comes to the forefront with the identity of a jurist in this current of ideas. He is an influential figure in his articles and books on the legal issues of the period. The Code of Family Law has an important place in the history of Turkish law. It is also noteworthy that it was influenced by the intellectual currents of the period among the texts of codes issued after the Tanzimat. In this article, the effect of Celal Nuri s ideas on the code was discussed. In addition to meeting his request for a legal regulation on family law; the views of the marriage style, age of marriage, multiple mar-riages and divorce are parallel with the provisions of the code.
