Abstract
Objective: This study was carried out to determine whether some variables such as; gender, class level, number of siblings, birth order, family type and the parents’ level of education create significant difference in the level of social adaptation of children who study in the sixth and seventh grade of secondary schools. Methods: The study is a descriptive one in scanning model. 668 children studying in Erzincan province in sixth and seventh grade of schools which are linked to Ministry of National Education were included to the study. The data of the study were obtained through “General Information Form” and “Social Adaptation Scale”. In the analysis of the obtained data, from parametric tests T test and one-way analysis of variance were used for unpaired samplings. Results and Conclusion: As a result of the study it was found that some variables such as class level, the number of siblings, birth order, family type and parents’ level of education created significant difference on the children’s social adaptation levels; however, gender did not create significant difference. The obtained data were discussed in company with the related literature and some suggestions were presented.
