Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study is to compare social media addiction and body perception and nutritional knowledge levels among girls students studying at university. Method: A questionnaire form was applied to face to face interview method on 573 female students between ages of 19-25, using face-to-face interviews, and students social media addiction, body perception and nutritional knowledge levels were examined. Social Media Addiction Scale-Adult Form (SMAS-AF) scale was used for social media addiction, Body Image Scale for body perception and ‘Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale For Adults (NKLSA)’ for nutritional knowledge levels was used. Results: The median value of ages of students participating in study is 21.0 years, median weight of body weight is 57.0 kg, median value of height is 164,0 cm and BMI median value is 20.9 kg/m2. The median value of students scores on NKLSA scale is 35, and Q1-Q3 values are 29-40 respectively. It was determined that individuals participating in study included classification of bad nutrition knowledge. In addition, median value and Q1-Q3 values of students social media addiction scale are 51 and 42-59, respectively. The median value and Q1-Q3 value of scores received from body perception scale were 98 and 84-113, respectively. Conclusion: It was revealed that students nutritional knowledge levels were bad, their BMI values were normal although their mean level was not high, and they had moderate social media addictions.
