Abstract :
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between socio-cultural and demographic characteristics of nursing students with awareness of child abuse and neglect. Methods: This is a descriptive type study. Sample is composed of 121 students. A questionnaire developed by Altan was used to assess awareness towards child abuse and neglect. The data were evaluated using Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: The mean total awareness score related with child abuse and neglect was found to be 79.179.45. It was determined that nursing students awareness levels were affected by age, class, number of siblings, self-defined behavior and perceived social support levels. Conclusion: In the current study, it was determined that nursing students’ awareness levels of child abuse and neglect were good.
