Abstract :
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between socio-cultural and demographic characteristics of nursing students with awareness of child abuse and neglect. Methods: This is a descriptive type study. Sample is composed of 121 students. A questionnaire developed by Altan was used to assess awareness towards child abuse and neglect. The data were evaluated using Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: The mean total awareness score related with child abuse and neglect was found to be 79.179.45. It was determined that nursing students awareness levels were affected by age, class, number of siblings, self-defined behavior and perceived social support levels. Conclusion: In the current study, it was determined that nursing students’ awareness levels of child abuse and neglect were good.
