Abstract
Aims: Dengue fever lacks a vaccine and cure, with annual occurrences consistently documented. Continuous investigation and monitoring of infectious diseases serve to elucidate the disease’s patterns, requiring a comprehensive historical analysis and fundamental data for effective disease control and management, specifically regarding Aedes spp. mosquitoes as the carriers. This study aimed to analyze the impact of educational interventions on the control of dengue hemorrhagic fever among students in Jambi City. Materials Methods: This experimental study was conducted with a non-equivalent control group design between July and October 2022, encompassing nine junior high schools in Jambi City, Indonesia. A total of 225 students who met the inclusion criteria were randomly selected to participate. For data analysis, the non-parametric Wilcoxon test was used. Findings: Research findings revealed a monthly larval-free rate of 95.5, accompanied by a persistent monthly dengue fever incidence from July to October, averaging 7.7 cases. Post-modeling, a noticeable improvement in student knowledge regarding dengue hemorrhagic fever control was observed, attributed to the implementation of the 3M approach (p 0.05). Conclusion: Educational modeling, implemented across nine junior high schools in Jambi City, effectively enhances students’ knowledge in controlling dengue hemorrhagic fever through the application of the 3M strategy in Jambi City.
